A groundbreaking study published in Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy revealed that comprehensive lifestyle modifications can improve cognition and function in individuals with mild cognitive impairment or early dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.
Inspired by these findings, CCL Hospitality Group’s Nutrition and Wellness team has designed a comprehensive Brain Fitness Learning Series that focuses on key modifiable lifestyle factors impacting brain health, such as exercise, sleep, nutrition, stress management, social connection, and challenging brain activities. Each module in the learning series embraces ways to “exercise” the brain similar to challenging muscles in a workout, bringing new ways to think about health and challenging new habits that impact longevity and support disease prevention.
Our Brain Fitness Learning Series is powered by innovative technology, including data visualization tools such as Power BI, health applications, and wearables like smartwatches and fitness trackers. These tools provide participants with valuable health insights, enabling them to set and achieve personalized goals that support their overall brain health and longevity. Our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) utilize these technological tools to collaborate with residents, guiding them on their journey throughout the series.
Participants engage in interactive education sessions led by our RDNs, which include teaching, discussions, brain-challenging exercises, goal setting, brain-boosting recipes, and self-directed learning activities. Additionally, community members can enjoy brain nourishing meals and snacks available throughout our community venues.
The technology-driven brain fitness learning series has delivered impressive results, with participants reporting significant improvements in social connectedness, physical activity, and healthier eating habits. Our teams are also able to track satisfaction and identify specific areas for program enhancement through our technology platform. Remarkably, 100% of participants intend to make at least one lifestyle change after completing the series, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in motivating individuals to take proactive steps toward better brain health.
