OVERVIEW

Canterbury Court, one of Atlanta’s most established senior living communities, has redefined resident care and experience since opening its doors in 1965. With a campus that spans 14 acres and serves nearly 500 residents across independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. Canterbury needed partners who could scale with their growth and deliver consistently exceptional senior living hospitality services.

In 2016,Canterbury Court partnered with Morrison Living to elevate its dining experience and with Coreworks to lead environmental services (EVS) and laundry. The collaboration has helped Canterbury enhance operations, integrate technology, and increase satisfaction across its rapidly expanding community.

THE CHALLENGE

Canterbury Court had recently completed a significant expansion, adding two new buildings and undergoing renovations across its four residential towers. With a growing resident population and physical footprint, the leadership team sought partners who could:

  • Maintain high satisfaction scores across departments during rapid growth
  • Improve dining quality and consistency while controlling costs
  • Optimize EVS and laundry with modern systems and scalable processes
  • Integrate data and technology for more informed decision-making

THE SOLUTION

Morrison Living: Redefining Senior Living Hospitality Services Through Dining

  • Data-Driven Culinary Operations
Morrison Living introduced systems to track food consumption, reduce waste, and streamline purchasing. Computerized recipes and ordering platforms brought structure, transparency, and consistency to every meal.
  • Training & Innovation
Staff received specialized onboarding and training that emphasized hospitality, safety, and creativity. The dining program expanded with enhanced presentation, updated menus, and elevated service that reflected resident preferences.
  • Resident-Centered Approach
Rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all model, Morrison Living aligned with Canterbury’s culture, designing a program that met the community’s specific goals and values.

Coreworks: Elevating Environmental Services & Efficiency

  • Operational Gains
With tools like robotic vacuums and enhanced scheduling models, Canterbury improved turnaround times and freed up associates to focus on high-impact tasks.
  • Leadership Alignment
Coreworks quickly identified the need for stronger on-site leadership and appointed a new director to oversee EVS and laundry operations, ensuring team cohesion and accountability.
  • Technology Integration
New systems were rolled out to gather real-time data and support process improvements. Dashboards and reporting tools helped drive decisions around staffing, cleaning schedules, and service delivery.

Coreworks brings huge value to our community. We not only have a wonderful program manager, but we have all the resources behind her from Coreworks who can bring levels of expertise and best practices.
